Twentieth seminar of the new Xylella Seminar Series jointly organised by the EU funded Bexyl project, EFSA (European Food Safety Authority) and Auburn University. Francesco Volpe, University of Turin (UNITO), Italy, gave a presentation titled Between promise and reality: Evaluating Ooctonus vulgatus as a Biocontrol Candidate for Philaenus spumarius. Francesco Volpe is a second-year Ph.D. student focusing on developing environmentally sustainable solutions for controlling Xylella fastidiosa´s main vector, Philaenus spumarius. In particular, he is investigating the potential of the egg parasitoid Ooctonus vulgatus as a biological control agent.
