Twenty Seventh seminar of the new Xylella Seminar Series jointly organised by the EU funded Bexyl project, EFSA (European Food Safety Authority) and Auburn University. Aniol Buisac, from the University of Girona (Spain) gave a presentation titled: Aggressiveness of Subspecies and sequence types of Xylella fastidiosa in the surrogated host Nicotiana benthamiana.
Aniol graduated with a degree in Food Innovation and Security in 2020 and earned his master’s degree in Food Biotechnology in 2021 from the University of Girona. In 2020, he began working with the CIDSAV group on projects focused on quarantine pathogens, including Xylella fastidiosa, Candidatus Liberibacter, and Erwinia amylovora. His role involved participating in public research projects at both the Spanish and European levels, as well as facilitating technology transfer through agreements and collaborations with various companies. In 2022, he started his PhD focused on control methods for Xylella fastidiosa, supported by a predoctoral contract form the BeXyl project.
